The 2nd-generation iPad Air was yet again thinner than the original by almost 1.5 millimeters and was a little bit lighter as well. While the front camera kept its 1.2 megapixel specification, the rear-facing camera was upgraded from 5 to 8 megapixels. The iPad Air 2 also added an internal barometer for altitude measurement and Touch ID fingerprint recognition for device login.
