Announced at the same time as the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 also added the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. The iPad Mini 3 also added a Gold color option for the back plate, in addition to Silver and Space Gray. Most all other specifications remained the same as the iPad Mini 2.
