The LG G5 moved to an aluminum construction in 2016 and relocated the volume buttons from the rear of the device to the side bezel but kept the fingerprint reader on the back panel. The G5 supported hardware additions such as the LG Cam Plus which added physical camera controls. The phone kept the ability to change the battery, a feature many smartphone manufacturers had moved away from in high-end devices.
